The National Mastitis Council (NMC) Regional Meeting, hosted jointly with the Ontario Association of Bovine Practitioners (OABP) and the Dairy Farmers of Ontario (DFO), was organized to provide the best current mastitis and milk quality information to dairy producers, veterinarians, and advisors.
The conference theme “Solutions To Emerging Milk Quality Issues” was a 3-day program and included: a variety of short courses and evening banquet with a keynote speaker on Wednesday, June 20, 2018; a day of formal presentations on Thursday, June 21; a bus tour on Friday, June 22. Key topics covered included: implementation of selective dry cow therapy programs, bedding options and their impact on udder health, and maintaining the highest milk quality when transitioning to robotic milking systems.
‘Another fantastic NMC Regional meeting in southwestern Ontario has wrapped up. Couldn’t have asked for a better group of organizers, volunteers, sponsors, partner organizations, short course instructors and speakers to work with. On behalf of the NMC, OABP and DFO…thank you to all of the attendees. Great discussions all week about our common passion – mastitis and milk quality. I hope we don’t have to wait another 20 years to have such an impactful milk quality event here in Guelph.’
– Dr. David Kelton, NMC Conference Co-Chair
