BET Elective Stipend
The Bovine Education Trust (BET) Elective Stipend exists to support enhanced learning activities for OVC students interested in bovine veterinary medicine, and to contribute to the training of veterinarians to serve rural communities.
Application for funding for the BET Elective Stipend is open to Phase 4 veterinary students in the Food Animal or Rural Community Practice stream. Eligible electives include any external rotations with a focus on bovine medicine that are not completed at OVC and are not the externship. The BET will fund students up to a maximum of $2,000 per student. The amount awarded in a given year will depend on available funds and the quality of applications. Below are the details:
Eligibility
Students at OVC who are arranging elective opportunities for their final year related to bovine medicine and management. A limited number of elective experiences related to other food animals may be included in applications and may also be considered. Applicants should have demonstrated interest and experience in food animal veterinary medicine.
Applications
All students must submit the following to be eligible to be considered for a BET award:
- Letter of Intent – For each proposed activity please succinctly provide as much as possible of the following information:
a. Objective; b. Summary of planned activities and experiences; c. Location; d. Dates and duration; e. Cost; f. Status: Is the activity or elective confirmed?
- Resume – With emphasis on food animal experience. Please include your stream selection for Phase 4.
Decision Process
The deadline for application for these awards is January 31, 2023. Each application must be submitted to electronically in a PDF file format.
